Funnell is the maiden surname of my great-great- grandmother Caroline Eliza who
married John Holford on 30 May 1857 in Framfield, East Sussex. Caroline
herself was born on 12 Jun 1830 in Chiddingly (pronounced Chiddinglie) and was 4th of 5
children born to parents Henry Funnell and..... and that's where it gets a bit
interesting as Henry had 3 wives, Martha, Eliza Roberts and Esther Townsend. I
believe
that Martha was the mother of Henry's first 5 offspring with Henry having a further
2 children by Eliza and none by Esther.
I have 4 further generations back from Henry coming to a halt with
Henry's great-great-grandfather Thomas Funnell (b.1690) and Sarah Reed.
